What is denture stabilisation?
Denture stabilisation involves using mini dental implants to anchor the denture; the denture is held in place by dental implants, which are inserted into the jawbone. Denture stabilisation is a very effective option for denture patients because the implants hold the denture firmly in place and there is no risk of the denture slipping or becoming loose. This means no soreness in the gums and no worries when you eat.

The procedure
The dental implants are placed first. This involves cutting into the gum and drilling a small hole in the jawbone; the hole acts as a socket to support the implant. The jawbone supports the implant and the gums are left to heal for a few weeks. Once the implant has healed, the denture can be attached and you can show off your new smile.
Denture stabilisation is a relatively straightforward procedure and it produces amazing results. Dental implants are a long-term treatment and they have a host of benefits, including improving the function of the mouth and enhancing the look of the smile.
Is denture stabilisation painful?
The procedure to fit the dental implants is carried out under local anaesthetic, which prevents pain. We can, however, also offer sedation for nervous patients. We can also arrange for you to meet other patients who have already had treatment.
What does treatment involve?
The dental or mini dental implants themselves are fitted during a simple procedure, where a flap of tissue is lifted from the gum and a small hole drilled into the jaw. Your mouth will be numbed beforehand. Once the hole is drilled the implant, which is made of a tough metal called titanium, is screwed into place. The gum tissue is replaced and stitched and the whole area is left to heal for a few weeks. Once the dentist is happy that the implants are in place, then your dentures can be attached.

You will probably be surprised just how much of a difference denture stabilisation makes. This treatment enables you to eat and speak without any worries and you also can rest assured that your dentures will never come loose.
