At the Dental Suite we are dedicated to providing our clients with the best services available and we use the latest technology to create amazing results. CEREC technology allows us to design and process new, bespoke restorations on the same day, so you don't have to wait to show off your new, healthy smile.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is an innovative system, which has revolutionised dentistry. CEREC has two main parts: the first is a computer system, which has a camera and scanner to capture images of the patient's mouth and the second part is the milling machine, which is responsible for the manufacture of the restoration. It allows dentists to design and manufacture a range of custom-made restorations on-site, which reduces treatment time for patients and allows dentists greater control of the finished article. Restorations that can be manufactured by CEREC include crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays.
Usually, it takes around 2 weeks for restorations to be made and returned to the dentist after an impression has been created using dental putty; in the meantime, it is common for patients to use temporary restorations.
With CEREC, everything is done on the same day, which saves time and enables patients to get the treatment they need all in one day, rather than having to worry about getting time off to book appointments 2 or 3 weeks apart. CEREC also means less time in the dental chair, which is good news for nervous patients. CEREC is also very accurate and patients can be involved more in the design process.
How long do CEREC restorations last?
CEREC restorations should last for several years, provided that you look after your teeth well.
