Examinations & Hygiene

Your oral hygiene is the most important factor to consider when it comes to having a smile that you can be proud of. Without good oral hygiene your teeth and gums can deteriorate rapidly, resulting in the need for several visits to the dentist for necessary treatments and as a consequence thousands of pounds disappearing from your wallet.

If you do not maintain good oral hygiene then the following issues are inevitable:

  • Decaying teeth - A result of our high intake of sugars in modern society; this could lead to the need for fillings, tooth extractions and other restorative treatment.
  • Gum Disease - Gingivitis, if not treated, can easily lead to periodontal disease which means that the surrounding bone will begin to get infected. A complex root canal treatment is often the solution here but even that may not save your teeth.
  • Bad Breath - More of a social issue but no less important when it comes to a person's self-confidence.

Oral hygiene can easily be taken care of as long as you put aside time each and every day. Simply brushing your teeth for the recommended two minutes a day greatly reduces plaque and the chances of tooth decay. Flossing and mouthwashes are also important in the removal of bacteria.

Attending routine check-ups for an examination can help to identify any developing conditions early on. Necessary changes can be recommended early on to ward off the need for expensive dental treatment. Dietary plans can be issued to for those who:

  • Tend to eat a lot of sugary foods
  • Those who consume food likely to cause tooth staining like coffee and red wine
  • Those who are fond of smoking

One of our resident dentists can also provide you with a routine 'scale and polish' to give your teeth a natural boost.
